How to apply

To apply for one of our homes, you or your family member must fall in a number of the criteria below:
  • Be of retirement age (over the age of 55*).
  • Must be in the vicinity of one of our homes or have family connections in the area.
  • Be legally homeless
  • Have a Low Income
    • Meaning a single person earning less than £19,200 per year before tax counts as low pay (as of 2022)
  • Limited financial means
    • Meaning: A person has low income or limited resources to meet their financial needs. A single person needs £25,000 a year to reach an acceptable standard of living.
  • Have no more than £6,000 in savings.
* If a younger resident is accepted and employed, a five year review will be conducted, or if prior circumstances change. * A person already residing under appointment with Chesterfield United Charities, must inform the charity of any change or circumstances. This for example could be financial, employment or well-being.
